The ACT Team Coaching Program focuses on the craft of team coaching by building upon your skills, experience and knowledge of individual coaching. We look at new skills and mindsets to guide interaction with a team, and a novel way to stretch your range and agility as a coach. We also consider the bigger picture of team coaching engagement phases, the importance of team design (to satisfy specific conditions), establishing alignment on a team’s purpose, conduct and operation; regarding and sensing the team as a systemic entity, and being in the presence of a team navigating conflict. We encourage developing awareness of how teams can foster a safer and more inclusive environment for their work.

ACT is an advocate for ongoing learning about the concepts and actions that promote (or inhibit) equity and inclusion, which is infused into our curriculum and practiced by our staff and faculty. We do not represent our curriculum as a definitive or comprehensive treatment of equity and inclusion in team coaching, but rather a cultivation of a practitioner’s responsibility to engage in such learning on an ongoing basis. Many participants find our introductory exploration to be an approachable way to further their understanding of cultivating inclusion.

While we occasionally demonstrate the use of a particular coaching technique or template, we do not provide a prescriptive approach, sets of templates, or procedures for conducting sessions.  We believe our participants become agile, thoughtful, and creative practitioners.

We will occasionally discuss the practical aspects of operating a coaching practice or being an internal practitioner in an organization, though we do not have an explicit focus on practice development, sales, marketing, and business management.

Our online (and in-person) modules are conducted by two trainers in an experiential learning style, supported by a booklet-style participant guide provided in PDF format (and printed format for in-person modules.) We will discuss content, and support it with role-play experiences with observer-provided feedback, occasional trainer demonstrations, and breakout discussions with debriefs. We believe that immediate though imperfect attempts at using the material contributes to everyone’s learning, and we intend to create a welcoming and constructive environment for this work. For this reason, it is important for participants to be fully present and available without external distraction for the entire time we are in session, whether in-person or online, as it directly affects the quality of training for yourself and for the other participants.  If you have a special consideration that warrants an accommodation, please contact us in advance of confirming your enrollment. The online portions of the program are:
