What is the LPCC program?

Leadership Performance Coaching Certification (LPCC) is an ICF Level 1 accredited program delivered by ACT Leadership in partnership with Brown University School of Professional Studies. It runs over eight months, virtual or hybrid (Providence, Rhode Island), and is built for experienced leaders with five or more years in the field. Delivery is blended: experiential classroom instruction, group mentor coaching, 1:1 supervision calls, reading and reflection, and live practice coaching with peers.

What you will learn

You will learn more about yourself as a leader, what motivates you, what beliefs you operate from, and how those shape your effectiveness. From that foundation, you will build the coaching skills to lead individuals, teams and change in the workplace, grounded in developmental psychology, neuroscience and current leadership research.

What you will achieve

You will graduate with 100 hours of coach-specific training, 10 hours of mentor coaching, and a clear path to your ICF ACC credential. You will receive a certificate of completion from ACT Leadership and Brown University SPS with the option to progress to ICF Level 2 (PCC) via our new Leadership Equation Advanced Coaching Program (LEAP). Most importantly, you will leave able to coach others to maximize their performance and results.

Ready to lead by coaching? Apply for the next cohort.

Level 1 Pathway

The ACT Leadership Performance Coaching Certification (LPCC) is an ICF-Accredited Coaching Education Level 1 program. Over eight months, you'll complete live modules, structured coaching practice, mentor coaching, individual feedback sessions, and a performance evaluation. Upon completion, you'll earn the LPCC Certification and qualify to apply for your ICF ACC credential.

Program Components

Live Modules

Three intensive modules, three days each, delivered across the first three months of the program.

  • Module 1 — Month 1
  • Module 2 — Month 2
  • Module 3 — Month 3

Coaching Practice Triads (CPT)

Ten one-hour triad sessions, self-scheduled across Months 1 to 6. Triads give you structured peer-to-peer coaching practice in a small group format.

Mentor Coaching Group Calls (MCG)

Five group mentor coaching calls, one per month from Month 2 through Month 6. Each call runs 90 minutes, except MCG 5 which runs 60 minutes.

Individual Mentor Feedback Sessions (IMF)

Three one-hour individual mentor feedback sessions, self-scheduled:

  • IMF 1 — Month 3
  • IMF 2 — Month 4 to 5
  • IMF 3 — Month 6, after completing 40 hours of coaching practice

1:1 Coaching Practice

A total of 50 coaching hours, built up across the program.

Self-Paced Learning

20 hours of self-paced learning, distributed across the full program timeline.

ICF Level 1 Performance Evaluation

Includes a 90-minute live prep webinar in Months 5 to 6, followed by the performance evaluation in Month 8 once all program requirements and 50 hours of coaching practice are complete.

LPCC Certification

The LPCC Certification is awarded on completion of all program requirements and a successful Level 1 Performance Evaluation.

ICF ACC Credential Pathway

After earning your LPCC Certification, you can apply for the International Coaching Federation Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential. The process has three steps:

  1. Upload your ACT Level 1 certificate
  2. Complete 100 hours of coaching practice
  3. Pass the ICF Credentialing Exam

Once approved, you're awarded your ICF ACC Credential.

Have questions about our programs?

Having Brown University's School of Professional Studies on your LPCC certificate is a genuine differentiator. It reflects a partnership built on shared academic rigor and a commitment to developing exceptional coaches, something clients recognize and value. To see how this plays out for our graduates, check out our client testimonials and student experience webinars.

The program has 3 live modules, each spanning 3 days. These modules are instructor-led with 2 instructors and run from 8:30am to 4:30pm. In additon to this there are 5 Mentor Group Coaching Sessions.

You may begin recording your coaching hours on Day 1 of Module 1 of the LPCC program.

Tuition and Payment information can be found here

LPCC welcomes leaders at every stage. From emerging leaders just stepping into new roles to senior executives with decades of experience, and everyone in between

We recommend having practice clients lined up before your LPCC program begins, since you'll start coaching right away. Your first practice session takes place as homework on the evening of Day 2 of Module 1. To complete all 50 required hours over the 8-month program, we suggest coaching about 2 hours per week, so securing clients early will help you stay on track from day one

LPCC cohorts are capped at no more than 24 people. We keep the group intentionally small to preserve the quality of the learning experience, it allows for deeper discussion, more individualized feedback, and stronger peer connections throughout the program. With few exceptions, LPCC cohort fill to capacity

ACT shares Brown University's mission to develop reflective leaders, to effect change in the world, and to improve human welfare. We believe that leaders are responsible for their impact and are responsible for creating positive, inclusive environments for people from all backgrounds to feel safe showing up as their authentic selves.
